A strong, stable and loving family network provides a foundation for all family members to flourish and fulfil their potential. However, many families will face difficulties at some time and some have multiple complex needs. We know that these families often have poor outcomes in health, social interaction and educational attainment.

A parent or other adult family member or an older child may request family support services from social services at times of stress or for help regarding a particular child or family problem. A professional who knows the family such as a teacher, family centre worker or GP can make this request on their behalf. This is to support families.
